Managing events in YouEvents

I'm interested in buying YouEvents (great design btw!) for my new website, but I'm unsure if I can use it the way I want. For your information: I'm new to Joomla, so maybe I'm missing a point.

1) Can I add an event like displayed in the demo without additional (event) extensions? If yes, I guess an event is just a normal article right? When I normally create an article, it uses the creation time and not the time the event will take place, so I wonder how this works.

2) It's important to me to have reaccuring events, so that an event will be shown in "todays events" weekly. Is this possible?

1. You can order any article by indeed creation time, but you can also order articles in your preferred order, so no extra extension needed for that.
2. Not automagically, but again you can order the articles within the todays events category in your preferred order.

If I understand correctly, I would have to update weekly events constantly, fixing the order of the events and changing the event time. This is obviously not what I want.
I want to set up an event once, set a recurring policy (weekly, second saturday of a month, etc...) and forget about it. I know there are extensions for that, like JList, but these extensions have their own (mostly ugly) templates. This would probably destroy the beauty of this template.

So... I guess there is no easy way to make this work right? If there was an extension working together with the template, that would be great...

No i am afraid you have to accept that if you want to go beyond the possibilities of standard joomla some changes in styling will need to be made. But this of course goes for any template and any 3rd party extension. So if you like the template go with that, and pick an extension that is relatively easily customizable.

I believe there are free third party events extensions that you can use...search the JED for some really nice one that works with YouJoomla templates. In most cases YouJoomla templates are compatible with a lot 3rd party extensions. One of the very best and most extensible template providers for Joomla without any iota of doubt. I am personally thrilled with the YJSG Framework...very cool and allows you to make the template your own
