Can someone help me simplify my URLs for SEO

I was wondering if someone would be kind enough to help me make my urls more search engine friendly. I have turned that option on in global settings and that screwed up my site. Thank You in advance.

ok , there is 404sef for Joomla 1.5 , install it ,

http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/2380/details

change and rename htaccsess.txt .htaccsess file as advised in installation instructions
turn SEF on
and CLEAR ALL CACHE BEFORE ACCESSING THE SITE FOR THE FIRST TIME

in component settings , look to top right , above the 404sef logo click on this

Click here to switch to extended display (with all available parameters)

Rewriting mode to with .htaccsess mod_rewrite

I tried what you told me it work somewhat but i cant set up titles for my site. The site will display only the title of the menu items even thou i set it to display my costom title. Any help will be appreciated
